Most reverse image searches now happen on phones — yet Google's classic desktop “search by image” button is hidden on mobile browsers, which confuses a lot of people. The good news: you don't need to install any app. Here is every way to search by photo from your iPhone or Android, starting with the easiest.
Method 1: Use Our Tool (Works on Every Phone)
The simplest method works identically on iPhone, Android, and tablets:

Method 2: Google Lens (Built into Android & the Google App)
On most Android phones, Google Lens is pre-installed. Open the Google app, tap the camera icon in the search bar, and either point your camera at something or select a photo from your gallery. On iPhone, install the free Google app to get the same Lens button.
Lens is excellent at identifying objects, plants, landmarks and products — but it emphasizes “visual matches” over showing you which websites use an image, which is where dedicated engines like TinEye shine.
Method 3: Request Desktop Site in Your Browser
If you prefer using Google Images directly:
Open images.google.com in Chrome or Safari.
Tap the browser menu (⋮ or the aA button) and choose “Request Desktop Site”.
The camera icon now appears in the search bar — tap it to upload your photo.
This works, but it's fiddly on small screens — the desktop layout isn't designed for phones.
Method 4: Long-Press an Image While Browsing (Chrome)
When you find an image on a website in Chrome, long-press it and choose “Search image with Google”. On iPhone Safari, long-press and choose “Search with Google Lens” (iOS 17+). Fast, but only works on images already on webpages — not your own photos.

Use the clearest version of the image you have — avoid screenshots of screenshots.
Crop before searching if the photo contains multiple subjects, so engines focus on the right one.
Try multiple engines. If Google finds nothing, Yandex frequently does — especially for faces and photos popular outside the English-speaking web.
