Not all reverse image search engines are created equal. Each of the “big four” crawls the web differently, indexes different images, and uses different matching algorithms — which is why an image that returns nothing on one engine can produce dozens of matches on another. Here's an honest comparison based on what each engine actually does best.

Google has the largest image index on the planet, and Lens adds powerful AI object recognition on top. Upload a photo of a plant, a pair of sneakers or a building, and Lens will usually tell you exactly what it is — often with shopping links and reviews.
Use Google when: you want to identify what's in a photo, find similar products, or do a general-purpose first search.
Limitation: since replacing classic Google Images search with Lens, Google emphasizes visual matches and shopping over listing the exact web pages that contain your image. For usage tracking, TinEye and Yandex are better.
Microsoft's Bing Visual Search is stronger than most people expect. It's particularly good at product identification and finding “pages that include this image.” Its interface clearly separates exact matches from similar images, which makes analysis easy.
Use Bing when: Google's results are cluttered with shopping links and you want a cleaner “where does this image appear” view.
Russia's biggest search engine is legendary among OSINT researchers and fact-checkers for one reason: its face and similarity matching is remarkably strong. Yandex regularly finds cropped, flipped, filtered and re-compressed versions of images that Google and Bing completely miss. It also indexes large parts of the non-English web that other engines under-crawl.

TinEye, made by Canadian company Idee Inc., pioneered reverse image search in 2008. It does one thing exceptionally well: finding exact and near-exact copies of an image across the web, with unique sorting options — “oldest first” shows you where an image first appeared (great for finding original sources), and “most changed” reveals heavily edited versions.
Use TinEye when: tracking where your photos are used, finding an image's first appearance, or checking image theft.
